I have watched both movies, but only read the Narnia books. To be frankly honest, I enjoyed the Narnia movies more than the LOTR ones. Lord of the Rings just felt either boring because they were always traveling, or actiony, but it was like it kept going back and forth between those feelings. But I do enjoy the new Hobbit series.

I will usually say that the books are better than the movie, and as the Narnia movies went on, I started feeling that stronger and stronger. The first movie was 99% like the book, the second one was something like 68% (because they through in a love relationship with Susan and Caspian, and messed up the time line.) and the third one was SUPER different, and yet the same...so. I would say I like the books better.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but how can you make an accurate comparison as to which is better, if you have never observed the latter option?

I prefer the Lord of the Rings movies, but prefer the Chronicles of Narnia books.

You know we should have a vote of the LOTR movies vrs the Narnia movies. LOTR would win easy.

because I started reading the Narnia books but they were boring I've seen all the Narnia movies they are awesome but not as awesome as LotR I'm sorry but I LUV LOTR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for the movies, Ryan, I have to say I prefer the LOTR movies to the Narnia ones, because there is a lot more romance as well as some incredible battles and they bring the depth of the books to the screen perfectly. But I like them better only by a hair, I'm a huge fan of both.
As to the books,I voted Narnia simply because the characters in those books are closer to my heart. I adore LOTR as much as the next fantasy buff, but I'm not nearly as obsessed as some get. I've only seen the movies once, I've never learned a word of Elvish, and I've only read the books once, and yet, I feel my life is complete.
Narnia is far less heavy than LOTR, which is nice in a way, and as I said, I'm fonder of the characters which is what brings it to the top for me. Also, most people would say LOTR wins over Narnia and I just like to be on the controversial side ;)
PS, I'd just like to randomly throw out a pet peeve: yes, Tolkien was Catholic, but GANDALF IS NOT A CHRIST FIGURE! THERE IS NOWHERE IN THE BOOK THAT HE DIES!
At TFO, he was actually against that type of symbolism also. I think that they both have their place. As to which is better, it depends on the point of view. I prefer Narnia, obviously. My reasoning is that it is very profound. I have read quite a bit of the LOTR books, and its a very in depth book series, but not profound. Movies: The Hobbit. Its way better than all of the Narnia movies and LOTR movies. (Its the prequel, not apart of the official trilogy though). I say this for two reasons: The script was good. The VFX were amazing. Thats what I look for most in the movies. And then there is the acting. Its from Peter Jackson, he only lets the best actors in. :P

Actually Gandalf does die after falling down in with Durin's Bane. LOTR doesn't even have that much romance in them. (Why is Gandalf not a word yet)
Image
Which Gandolf was it that died? Gandalf the grey, right?

Yep Gandalf the Grey and then he became Gandalf the white.

To correct your correction: HE DIDN'T. Why on earth do people take that impression away from the books? It's an okay interpretation, but it;s not what the book actually says. NO WHERE IN LOTR DOES IT SAY GANDALF DIED! SHOW ME WHERE IT SAYS THAT! IT DOESN'T!

Did i get a little carried away?
A little... What does it say?

I greatly like Narnia. Haven't read LOTR. Haven't seen any movies because I don't watch movies at all (shocking to you, right?).
Ignorance to the law is no excuse!
Lord of the Rings is WAAAAYY better, but Narnia is okay.

I don't know... LOTR is more violent, but... I guess I like it better than Narnia.

I've seen all of The LOTR Movies, read all of The LOTR books. I've also seen all of the Narnia movies and read all of the books (three times, some more though.) So I'd say my opinion is pretty valid.
