My favorite poem would be, "My Friend Must be a Bird", by Emily Dickinson:
My friend must be a Bird—
Because it flies!
Mortal, my friend must be,
Because it dies!
Barbs has it, like a Bee!
Ah, curious friend!
Thou puzzlest me!
Think about that poem. What do you think it means? Then look at my interpretation:
I think it is about a friendship. A very complicated friendship.
I also enjoy this one, "I Should Not Dare To Leave My Friend", also by Ms. Dickinson:
I should not dare to leave my friend,
Because -- because if he should die
While I was gone -- and I -- too late --
Should reach the Heart that wanted me --
If I should disappoint the eyes
That hunted -- hunted so -- to see --
And could not bear to shut until
They "noticed" me -- they noticed me --
If I should stab the patient faith
So sure I'd come -- so sure I'd come --
It listening -- listening -- went to sleep --
Telling my tardy name --
My Heart would wish it broke before --
Since breaking then -- since breaking then --
Were useless as next morning's sun --
Where midnight frosts -- had lain!
I do not think this one needs explaining.
I like Emily Dickinson because they have meaning that make you think, like these.
SURRENDER YOUR COOKIES OR DIE!!
